I got this from the search engine and typed in wireless. apparently the maverick et-73 works well for many, i am looking at getting one myself.

Re: Wireless Tempature Probes
The 73 base unit is wireless to a remote receiver. Nice unit, I have two of them. But, the "temperature probes" are not wireless. I've never heard of a wireless probe. Two reasons come to mind. First, most pits are metal and a radio transmission originating from the innards of a pit would be sent to ground and not able to escape the pit. Second, the transmitter/power supply would have to be super heavy duty to prevent it from frying due to the pit temps.

Re: Wireless Tempature Probes
I just assumed that a wireless receiver is what was being discussed. I side with Dats on the reasons why a fully remote probe wouldn't work. If were still just talking about the wireless receiver then the Maverick is a slick setup.
