Want to buy a UDS

Postby bbqrookie » Fri Oct 25, 2013 11:41 am

So I been looking for a UDS to cook for Thanksgiving, is there a specific website y'all recommend? I saw this at on Craigslist (http://collegestation.craigslist.org/fo ... 92104.html), but I don't know if its good, if you guys can give me your feed back on it, and help on a good place to get a UDS at.

I don't see a price listed but it looks well built I will tell you this these claims
This is the easiest BBQ smoker to use. Great for Tailgating. No more need to cook overnight, or getting up at the crack of dawn. You can fire up this smoker by 8 am and still be eating fantastic BBQ by dinner time.
10lbs of Lump Charcoal and a few chunks of wood will burn for 10-12 hours and hold temp between 220 and 250 degrees.

**We now have smokers ready for pickup.**

Due to the unique design of our Smokers, cooking times are drastically reduced compared to off-set smokers.
Pork Rib- 2.5 hours
Brisket- 6 hours
Pork Shoulder- 4-6 hours
Whole Chicken - 2.5 hours

Turkey- 2-3 hours

You need to cook closer to 300-350 to meet these advertised cook times
Never met a cow I didn't like with a little salt and pepper.

My UDS is from Riley smokers and I love it. Kris is a good guy and will make any adjustments you wish.

Yes the cook times are off. I cook at 225 and have gotten 24 hrs off a basket of charcoal.

Just an FYI

$275 base price which includes 1 rack. I would get 2nd one for the additional $20. I took one screw out of my handles on each side to use got temp probes, works excellent.

The cart I built

Just get this one unless you want something bigger. Best thing is no charcoal. http://bbq.about.com/od/smokerreviews/gr/aapr120907a.htm
