My New J.D. themed UDS

Postby N224DW » Thu Sep 27, 2012 11:44 am

I just finished my new UDS a few days ago. Spent a couple of weeks off and on working with a friend of mine. We decided to do a John Deere theme.... I plan on seasoning it next week and hopefully we will throw some ribs on it afterwords!

Sweet rig. Like the dolly attachment, makes transport easy, great idea and innovation.

no worries,,, the black (now yellow) piping with the ball valves are the air intake dampers for the fire. With this, I can adjust how much air goes into the drum to fuel the fire, thusly, how hot the fire will burn. If it burns too hot, i can close the ball valves a little bit to reduce the amount of air the fire will use, which will slowly bring the overall temp down in the drum. Or, if i need the temp up higher, i can open the valves to get more air in and get the fire burning hotter...... The drum is a contained unit, so the only air intake for the drum smoker is through these ball valve/pipes once the lid is on. Sucked in from the bottom, and exhausted out the top.....
