Cooking with 2 racks on a Weber 22

Postby FullMetalBrisket » Fri Aug 19, 2016 12:09 am

Tried searching for any threads that might already exist on this, but couldn't find one.

I want to try and smoke two briskets this weekend on my Weber Kettle. I've cut a piece of expanded metal to size, and am going to mount it on top of my current grate using SS carriage bolts. What's the maximum height should go? Additionally, is cooking two briskets at the same time on a Weber a little ambitious? I've cooked several, but only one at a time, using two fire bricks to keep the heat separated, and putting a water pan under the brisket.

Thanks in advance, would welcome any insight.

Never tried it but if there's a will there's a way. Sounds like you have a good game plan.

The math is fairly simple; just double the time it takes to cook 1  If you're stacking, you can probably add about another 150% multiplier.
To answer the question; yes, it is a little ambitious. I'd say try it out for the sake of saying, "Hey, I cooked 2 briskets in tandem on this Weber, what have YOU done today?!"
