Took the plunge!

Postby bogiedr » Mon May 11, 2020 5:16 pm

Here my replacement for the injured on I.R. Kamado joe. My dealer gave me a bag of something called Somoke Ring pellets ... ever heard of it? Any good? Just in case I bought a bag of gmg Texas blend which I used for initial burn in, smelled delicious!

Be careful about leaving your pellets exposed to the outside moisture and you might also just start with a few pellets and once you have ignition add more. It's much easier to pour them in than it is to spoon them out :D

Good go, you'll like it.

Never heard of those smoke ring pellets, there are ways to enhance the smoke ring and they all include nitrates really shouldn't need them tho.... Natural wood smoke has all you need.

Nice smoker! :salut:

They carry them at a store I buy my Lumberjack pellets from. One guy on the RecTec forum likes them. I haven't tried them. Lumberjack and Cookin Pellets seem to have a good following. I've tried the Cookin Pellets and they are good for the wood species I used.
