PitBoss 1100 Heat Shield

Postby jkabrahamsoon » Thu Jun 13, 2019 8:17 pm

Curious if anybody has modified the PitBoss 1100 Heat Shield with an aftermarket one? The thin aluminum I would think makes the middle really hot as that is where the pellet pot is. If so, can you post pictures installed? trying to get a visual. I've been looking at this one without the stick burning.

The mod is posted somewhere in the forum but it is simple.
I simply mounted a cast iron griddle on top of the flame deflector to eliminate that hot spot, spread the heat more evenly out to the sides and the mass of the thing holds heat to even out the hi/lo cycles.

I thinkni know what you mean about the hot spot. The paint has colored differently on my 820 with a circle in the middle
