Austin XL Newbie question
Hello all. Just got an Austin XL and smoked some ribs tonight. They were great. Tomorrow I'm gonna do a whole bunch of chicken breasts and legs for church. Approximately 45 or so pieces. Boneless breast. How long will it take to smoke that many? Trying to research it and I'm getting answers from 45 min to 6 hrs! Anyone ever done this many and would have an approximate time frame? Thanks!

Re: Austin XL Newbie question
Good Morning and welcome to the madness
Leg quarters usually take me about 30-45 minutes at 300 or so degrees. It all depends on your pit and cooking temps. That said I’m not familiar with the AustinXL
Don’t forget to post pictures of your cook. We love pictures

Re: Austin XL Newbie question
Welcome to the forum.
I am not familiar with an Austin XL smoker or is it a grill?
I am familiar with a cookshack FEC100 and a Traeger for those it takes depending on cook temperature any where from 1.5 to 3 hours.
if you brine the white meat it will stay more on the moist side once it hits the 165 degree internal temperature.
if you cook at between 270 and 300 degrees the skin will be crisp when finished. So you asked a question and we need to know more before we can help with answers.
below is brined (1 cup of salt to one gallon of water) for 5 hours then FEC100 cooked at 270 degrees to an internal of 165 degrees white meat. notice the juices leaching out of the meat. These are bone in split chicken breasts.
