She’s Here... Yeah!!!

Postby SmokeAlot » Tue Jan 02, 2018 4:51 pm

I drove to Sherman this morning to pick up my new PG500... Better late than never... They only had a Semi truck to deliver, which would have been problematic to get down my 1/4 mile private easement which is umbrellas by trees... After looking at all the options... :banghead: Decided to jump in Big Red to go bring her home...

Wonderful! looks familiar except mine is rotated 90° clockwise, come to think of it so is my house.....
Gumbo is all about celebration lookin' good. We normally have gumbo as well but this year due to an abundance of 1836 rub we had prime rib and it was wunnerful.

Enjoy that stainless wonder!

Love me some gumbo !!

If your taking pic's holding you phone/camera vertical, a lot of web site's don't like that, try taking pic's horizontal.

Hello my new found BBQ friends... :D Well after a small learning curve I got the PG500 dialed in and now ready to do some cooking... Just to give you a brief... When I got everything set up yesterday evening, pellets loaded in the hopper plugged in and switch on. Ignitor seem to be working, Auger pooping pellets life looked to be good. I set the temperature to 400 degrees and it was cold outside so I decided to let it run up the temp while waiting inside... When I went to check on her about 20 minutes later, I had a ash draw full of pellets, it only was at 66 degrees. Hmmmmm... After cleaning all the pellets out, it was obvious the burner plate wasn't positioned in it's proper location. :banghead: Reloaded the Hopper and switched on again, 400 degrees was still my setpoint, temperature rising and fire pot looked more like normal. Ambient temp. still dropping outside so I went back inside while grill was coming up to temp. Went back out in 10 minutes and grill over shot to 500 degrees and climbing. :dont: Dropped the temp on the PID to 250 degrees. Temp. still wanted to climb. :?: in my own mind, I remembered they talked about Factory default setting were 10 for LHt and 100 for HHt. So I checked both in the PID and changed the HHT to 50. That seems to have dialed her right in. No vents to open or shut or taking a log off the fire... Checked it at different temp setting and it went right to them. Pretty cool stuff actually.. Sorry I said brief.. Should have got some :happ: . So now she is seasoned, aluminum foil on the drip pan and drip bucket.

Now I have a Pork Loin Marinating and have some chicken Breast Strips seasoned to make Jamaican Style Jerk Chicken. This will give me a chance to test the Low and Slow side of the grill and the Direct side... Sides will be a CoonAzz potato salad, baked beans and grilled corn on the cob which will be cooked on the upper rack of the Direct side... I will share my experience with more side ways to upside down pics... :chef: Ray

Woodenvision.... That's a Jag behind the Grill and the Car you were asking about is a 2017 SS2 Camaro with quad exhaust... She sounds and runs like a Scalded Dog.... Lots of fun to drive... It's actually my wife's car and she has no idea what to do with all that power... I think she would have been just as happy if it had a four cylinder.. :dont: Actually she surprised me last month she told me she did a 0-60 in 4.0 secs... She said she was getting used to the power... :whiteflag: I like my Jag and Big Red F350 Dually..

Outlaw.... I paid retail.... Amazon gets lots of my money... :laughing7:
