I'm not all that pleased with the smoke profile from the brands of oak pellets I can buy locally like B+B, Traeger, and some others from Academy sports.
Does anyone know which brand of oak pellets comes closest to burning oak sticks or which are considered "best"?
Who makes the "best" brand of oak pellets?

I don't burn 100% Oak pellets so can't give you my take on it, but when the pellet head forum was alive, LumberJack seemed to be the favorite.

You're not going to get much of a smoke profile from pellets used as fuel unless you cook at low temps for two hours. You need a smoke generator otherwise. There are a lot on the market. I've talked to cooks on the comp circuit who use pellet smokers and I get all kinds of opinions, so I have learned by my own experience. Family, friends, and small caters prefer my cooks with a smoke generator by far.
I went through a lot of pellet brands, and I settled on CookinPellets. They work flawlessly for me. For a smoke generator, I use two A-MAZE-N Pellet Smokers at the same time. Wood pellet flavors depend on the meat being cooked. Nice little smoke ring on the beef rib I cooked recently.

I see cookinpellets does not offer oak as a flavor, do you use the four wood blend on brisket as well as pork and bird meat?

Perfect blend is my base pellet for heat. Then I use apple or peach on my birds, a mix of apple and hickory on pork, and a mix of perfect mix and mesquite on brisket. Stand alone, perfect mix does well on all meats.
