Just wanted to pass along some information. Looked on line and had a tough time getting specific info so I just went for it.

Smoked a 35 lb pig on our lil Tex:

Cut the head off and it fit just fine. Started at 180 degrees at 9:00 pm, turned it to 225 degrees at 9:00 am the next morning and left it there until 3:30 pm. The shoulders were at 192 degrees internal and the ham 187 degrees.

Basted throughout with a Apple juice cider mix and injected apple juice. Came out great.

Whole Hawg cook questions pop up here all the time and there are several Members that are more than proficient at it - - - however, I don't think I've seen a Pelletized Whole Hawg'er until yours. :dont:

Badger that looks a real nice colour, I've done a pig on a spit recently, I'd love to try yours to see how different it is to mine, I basted mine with butter and pineapple juice. I never thought about injecting???

Kiwiruss,
That blast sounds good. I fell short with the finish though. When I cut it up I realized I had used all the basting juice and injection juice. The meat had great flavor after 19 hours. (not a huge deal but rushed the end). The injecting worked great.

Have a good one there, Kiwiruss

So, since the last post we used the new Traeger many times and then it wouldn’t maintain a constant temperature. Took it back and got a replacement from Costco. As we are loading it up the Costco employee says that they have had many returns and that if this one goes bad to not get another one from Costco. Seems they had a bad lot or something.

So, that one went bad also. Auger issues w error codes etc so back it goes and screw Traeger and its decision to have it all made in China.

Goodbye Traeger and hello American-Made Yoder YS640 :deadhorse:

Thanks Old Parts. Feeling patriotic with the buy
Really feels strong and well made. Big upgrade from the traeger. When the guy at Costco says they are returned often it's a sign for sure. Won't get the yoder for a couple weeks but looking forward to it
