Imperial Kamado's are terra cotta and can be painted. I done it. Now the BGE, Primo etc are glazed and I don't know if a guy can paint over the glaze or not.

Re: big green egg
Somebody over on the Egghead forum painted an old one. Not sure how he did it. Think he painted it gold. I'm sure you could go over there and do a search.

That guy has a nice set up for his egg, not to mention, the golden egg is a fun idea as well.

Re: big green egg
I was wondering how well the paint job held up. I see many posts where some one did this or that and it looks great, but how well did it stand up to the test of time? The golden egg might still look great, I don't know. But if it can be proven, I'd be more inclined to paint a ceramic. Scarlet and Gold come to mind.

Re: big green egg
Anything with a surface that slick will need to be abraded somehow to create a profile for the paint to grab ahold of... otherwise it'll end up flaking off. Any paint job is only as good as the surface prep.
