you have a lot of "fun" in your future, the first is getting it out of the MIL's yard and into yours in proper location, the getting a supply of wood. Clean it up if you desire so and next is to learn the temperature profile, lots of biscuits and or thermometers.... once that is behind you your ready to begin to learn how to cook on it :D

Best shot at moving it would be to try 2 sheets of 3/4" plywood end to end and relocate as needed.
