Any reason to not use the Lavalock gaskets?

Re: Gaskets and silicone
I used lavalock on my smoke chamber and firebox lid. The firebox lid came off after two uses. The smoke chamber is going strong. I would say that the firebox temp is just too much for most adhesives and silicones. I used red high temp silicone between the firebox and smoke chamber and that is okay after a dozen smokes. Anything near the main coals will blister and peel. When you have the fire set right there's no smoke around the door. I only have smoke around the firebox door when I am first pre-heating and the first minute of putting in a small tray of pellets.

Re: Gaskets and silicone
Only gaskets I've used are Nomex. Holds up to 700 degrees so far, haven't used Lavalock or Fireblack.
I imagine they are close to the same material but could be mistaken ?
How have you made out since your post ?
