Backwoods chubby.

Have been looking at these for a while now. Does anyone have a review or suggestion. As far as tips and tricks..

It's funny to see this thread. I was going to post up that I think I found my next smoker purchase.. The Backwoods party smoker
Reasonably priced for what it is; and I think I want to give cabinet style a shot now.

Heck i looked at them again today.. i think im going with the party too. Lot more room for such a little cist increase.

Well I have had about three cook8ngs on her so far. I seasoned her with pecan and she is one fine machine. Oh yea went with the chubby g2. 7lbs of charcoal and a stick of pecan she holds 250 for about 10 hours. 250 seems to be her sweet spot. The needle doesnt move.

Congrats. Next time you cook would you mind posting a pic of your coal configuration with the stick? Just curious as to what that looks like. Thanks!

Hey Johnmalone, I see you got your chubby and have done some smokes with it. Glad you report it is working just fine. I have been looking at one for several weeks. I read everything I can find about them. I haven't seen any one mention if there is a retail store where I can touch and feel the chubby.
I know they are built near Shreveport. I am planning on driving down there before I buy one. I would like to buy one and pick it up there and forego the $200 shipping cost. Anybody else think the same way I do? I have never seen a negative report on the chubby. I am cooking on a WSM now and I think the chubby might serve me better. The WSM is great, but I think I need to change.

DFW Smokers in N Richland Hills has a full line of Backwoods Smokers. If you are convinced you want a Chubby, I'd strongly look at the G2 Chubby. The ability to use a full size steam pan is worth it IMHO.

Thank you, Okie Sawbones, for the tip about Chubbys at DFW Smokers in N. Richland Hills. Think I'll be making a trip over there soon and take a look at them. I have trouble spending $1000+ for something I haven't touched yet. I had been planning to drive over to Shreveport, but N.Richland Hills is much better.
