Meat prices?

Past up smoking a 45- 50 dollar brisket this weekend settled on ribs and chicken quarters. All the briskets locally are 3.49.to.3.99 Tri tip if found is 5.99 What is a meat to smoke that is not so expensive.

Pork shoulder is still reasonable. Plus you get more yield out of it than a brisket.

While that is expensive if you look at that brisket feeding your family for three to five days it is easier to swallow. We have found many ways to cook leftover brisket and depending on our weeks menu three of us can eat for about 80.00 or less on that one brisket.

HEB in Houston is advertising spare ribs for $1.49/lb this week until Wednesday. Gotta grab a couple racks and stock up. pork loins, shoulders and butts are always cheap too.

get creative. buy a pizza stone and start smoking pizzas. smoke some peaches or pineapple. smoke some chicken wings and sausage. i'm getting pretty hungry actually.

Saw a really nice upper choice flat at Sams the other day. It was over 11 freakin pounds for a flat at $5.99 a pound or $74. Thot bout gettin it and cuttin in half, but didn't! :roll: :D
