First cook on the Fat Girl------Whoa

This past sunday I fired up the R&O Fat Girl for her first cook. What an amazing pit. There is a learning curve for me as I have never cooked on anything insulated or a vertical smoker. There were a few challenges getting it up to where I wanted, but that was all me, I did not start with a big enough base set of lump/charcoal other than that it cooked flawlessly. I cannot wait to get the timing down a little and just get more comfortable.

Sweet..... I see the Fatgirl now has balls - as in ball valves for temp control. I like that a lot.

Edit: Oops - that's the drain valve. I forgot because mine's hidden by the shelf.

Mine has the original sliders and they work fine but can be a little fussy to adjust. I was going to modify mine but finally got the sticky damper to slide when things heat up.

Would love to compare notes sometime - drop me a P/M if you have any questions or comments. Here's mine......

Great looking smoker and hauler. Nice place to relax while enjoying the comfort of not having to toss a stick on every hour.

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah the motorhome sure has been nice even though we have not used it at a cook off yet. Planned one this weekend but Uncle Sam is taking a little too much dinero out of my pocket, water heater needs a refurb and the darn garage door spring all broke in 1 week.

Hoping to revamp the cart a little with some all terrain wheels this weekend and cook cops for kids on the 21st. Not expecting any calls just a good time and a little relaxing. It will be nice to have it out at Nascar and on camping trips as well.
