Now I gotta figure out how to take care of it and what if anything to do about the existing rust. Should I reaseason? Anything else?

Very nice Nick. Great find! I would oil down the whole pit inside and out and cook on it. You'll be set!

The pit looks real good.....if you want you could take it to the car wash and steam clean it out real good (you dont know how or what the previous owner did) and jsut start and small low temp fire in it. Its already seasoned, you would be just cleaning it up and "refreshing" it so to speak.....

Dis that in my backyard with the water hose. The steam cleaning really works well when everything is hot. Used crisco shortening and oiled the outside of the firebox.
