Sand blasting??

Postby junior » Tue Aug 18, 2009 3:30 pm

What's a fair price for sand blasting? I have a 250lb propane tank, about 6 ft long and about 2-3 ft wide that I "might" get sandblasted. Is it worth it, or could I burn off most of the rust, and silver paint with a good fire?
Cook it slow, and drink em fast!

getting ready to find out that myself. I have been told to expect around 75 to 100 bucks.
and yes, i would rather pay that than scrap/sand any day, but thats just me.

That sounds about right, it costs $75 bucs to rent one of those big Air compressors and about 5-6 bucs a bag of sand. Im getting ready to Sandblast my pit next week at my buddies welding shop. He needs to rent one to do some blasting on some other jobs so i wont have to pay much prob just the sand.

For a large smoker on a trailer, with both being sandblasted, the cheapest I could find was 250.00. A place in Ft Worth told me it may run 350 to 400. I think the 75 dollar figure may be a litle low. 150 to 200 for pit only in this area. Hopefully someone out there is hungrier than they were when I got the price and willing to do it just to have some money coming in.

Now, I'm no where near you all, but I'm with Bluz. My pit cost me $200 to get blasted. Of course, bags of sand around here are a little over $8/100#.

Well, that is certainly out of my price range! I should have my other pit back in a couple of weeks... Guess I'm just gonna wash it down and paint it as is. Maybe if I find a new job, I'll swing the $$ and have it blasted and painted all purty like.
