Charcoal Basket

Postby dlmfrisco » Thu May 21, 2009 4:06 pm

I am new to all of this, but I am always reading, trying new things, etc. I am now convinced that I need a charcoal basket for a long burn and of course a convection plate between my firebox and smokebox...

Anyone know of a place that makes or sells Charcoal baskets in the DFW area?

I admit it. I do not know how to weld, or even where to buy carbon expanded metal.... Please dont hate!

I've got a little material on hand and I can make you one. Much Much cheaper than you'll find anywhere. Draw up what ya need and pm me with the dimensions, and I'll get it done prob the same day. If your using that pit may not need a big one,IMO.

Well Chuck, though that is a very tempting offer, I have to admit, I sold the other one to my brother in Tyler. The new pit when finished give or take 20 dollars or so will cost me out of pocket 300 dollars. I think I made a pretty sweet deal.

Yes he is, and I tell you he needs a new one so bad. He cook about 6-8 gigs a month, and most of the time he will cook half and then have to cook the other half, to complete it. I am happy to see him get it. Its a good deal for him and a good deal for me. Wish all dealing I had were WIN WIN like this one.

Bluz,

I tried to "PM" you but I couldn't figure it out!

If there's an opportunity, I'm looking for a charcoal basket w/ angle iron frame.

Similar to this:

If you're interested or know someone who might be, I am able to respond to a PM with dimensions!

perhaps you`ll look at the charcoal basket like Dave Klose it realize.

Klose does it in that way, that he form a "S" for the charcoals inside the basket, lid at one end. So this is a kind of Minion method, and you needn´t to look for the pit for the next hours...

Perhaps this makes also sense for you.
Greetings

Not sure why I didnt see your reply last night . You knoq on most anything you'd die for triple let alone quadruple, and thats a good offer too, the triple part, but I would really feel bad putting it to a brother like that.
