Seen one of these?

Postby DATsBBQ » Sun May 17, 2009 8:30 pm

Found this sale within driving distance of me. The seller wants $250 for it. Looks like it's been in storage since the end of WWII .

Copy from the ad:
42 inch high 17 inch deep 27 inch wide, full front access with complete top load capability, many shelfs and removeable ash pan, this is very well thought out and made with plate metal!! I have seen others for around $700.00

I sent an e-mail asking for pics of the inside.

It looks like it would work like a UDS, if that is firebox down on the bottom. I'd like to see the inside, too. Interesting!

I blew the photo up, and its hard to see, but the front door opens. Latch on the left, hinges on the right. The bottom is the firebox. The seller is going to try get some more pictures

Kind of looks like an old style Hasty-Bake.

Now that you mention it... It sure does! When I first looked at the pic, for some reason, I thought that those things (H8, H5), where part of the pit that was being described. Makes more sense now. Guess maybe the wife was right and I do need to have my eyes checked.

I looked up Hasty Bake, they've been make cookers since the end of WWII. I shot them an email to see if its one of thiers. If so, there might be another restoration project in the works    That is, if the price is right.

Think it would look right pretty sitting next to the Imperial Komado (Circa 1970).

Instead of sending pictures the seller sent me an email saying he was lowing the price and then another saying that he had sold it. Hastybake never returned my email (maybe I offended them?). So, I guess it was not to be. 8)

Maybe the inside didn't look so good!
