Reached 410 degrees man did it ever stink! Took some temps with a infared gun and had some areas @ 650 in the tunnel. Took some readings around the warming box and it reached 275.
Will install thermometers after one more High Temp burn with everything sprayed down with oil. Thing never did really smoke a lot and we even busted two Oak pallets and threw in there just to try and get it to for pictures.

Oh yea.....The water on the floor? Well the trailer it's going on still has the plywood floor that will be replaced. For the first two hours everything was fine but we found the graiting needs a layer of expanded on so larger chunks of charcoal won't fall through and well, Catch the trailer on fire. ........Ran water for the rest of the trial and kept things down under nice and steamy cool.

Hey Ronnie, I think I have some heavy expanded metal that will go on top of your grates. Let me know if you need it.

I will see what i have, but the 3/4 #9 is I think too light for what you want. I will call Vick this morning and see what he may have available in the Floor plate. He usually has some drops of nice sizes and I will check on a price.

Ronnie,
I called around, and wasnt able to locate any used floor plate. Now even if we found it used, its gonna be high. They havent reduced the prices on floor plate, in comparison to smooth plate. The going rate on new 14 ga floor plate is 91.50 each, and the smooth 14 ga is 43.13 each, picked up my yard. I have some thicker expanded metal on the yard, for the grate in your firebox. Let me know what you want me to do.

Mark, will you be in town Thursday? I will be running errands and have a meeting in Dallas starting @ 5:30. I would like to stop by and finaly get to meet and look at that expanded metal. All I need is a 36 X 36 is that going to make you cut a big piece?

Bluz found the 14ga local and it's been delivered. Going to attempt to get the floor skinned tonight since I need to wrap this project up. I'll take the expanded metal and pick it up Thursday between 3 & 5 I hope!

this pc has some angle on it, that may help a little. Do you want me to leave it on, or cut it off.

Ok here we are to date
First onsite cook of Brisket, Chicken, Sausage and 2 Pork loins that I ruined :banghead: Thank goodness the loins were for me and I did not need them to serve. Just left them on too long and they are dry, dry, dry

Note to other pit builders.......While a C-clamp and piece of angle is a secure and functional way to keep the firebox door shut I would personaly recommend a little more research on the subject and maybe just maybe incorporate a latch that one normal person with two hands could operate

Thanks, I wish the work part was over......Left side gets a 2 x 5 charcoal grill work area and propane burners up front. Everything on that side will have to be on a slide out to keep enough work/walk area in the center of the trailer.
