Looks like this will be my official smoker build thread
I worked on my smaller tank getting some of the old paint off last weekend.
Got a little start today with my smaller tank, cut off the top and the bottom ring. next will be marking out the door and getting my hinges welded on after I make a few cuts on the hinge side. I hope it will keep it straight so its not a PITA to get lined up by cutting it all the way at one time.
hope you all like pics I will probably have a bunch before this thread ends.
got to love the sparks pic

Re: My Smoker Build
Glad to see you got a nice cut with that saw. I'll be using one just like it to cut into my tank.

Got a little more done in the last 2 days.
Small tank is ready for hinges, and the 250 gal has been marked and the Firebox opening cut. The last pic was the best part of the day.

Making some good progress! Mighty fine skill with that cut off saw too! I can barely draw a straight line, much less cut one... LOL...

Re: My Smoker Build
Thanks all
Finished up a few things that I didn't get done yesterday.
The rest of the hinges are all tacked on, and all the doors are cut out I did leave room under the hinges for strips of flat steel to seal up the gap.
Big diff in the weather today windy rainy and 35, from yesterdays sunny 85+

Thanks JamesB, I have had plenty of practice The thing I like about cutting it this way, all that's requred is a light touch with the grinder to de-burr the sharp edges and your done.

Re: My Smoker Build
Got a little more work done on my build.
The firebox frame is welded and most of the trailer is welded up, I need to add gussets, trailer tongue and axel brackets.
It has been a enjoyable build so far, I work on it when I have extra time.
I still have a lot of parts to buy so this build could take a while longer to complete.
I did order some Tel-Tru thermos at a great deal and have those ready when needed!
