Yeah i am really happy with the trailer so far. Im glad i got the Tandem, pulls so much better on the interstate then my single axle trailers. I think down the road im going to replace the lights that came with it and put some LED lights on :D . I really like the LED look. I was going to coat the whole frame with that bedliner stuff but the factory paint job looks to nice for that, and it will save me some money not coating it.

yesterday we got the rack mounts in. I got a few pics and will try to get them uploaded coming up. It is really starting to take shape now and i am really looking forward to the final product. My welding buddy is talking about putting a 8" diameter pipe in the bottom that is sealed in the fire box and runs the length of the tank with slots cut out with the plasma torch. I think it will be similar to my recent 250 gallon cooker mod. Do you think the 8' pipe will be large enough though???

Here's another place that ya can get 'em

Are ya set on stainless? If not, you can buy welder's chipping hammers at Harbor Freight for about $4 each and use them as handles, but they are just painted steel.

EDIT: Also found these.

You could also contact any of the pit manufacturers... I'm sure Gator Pit, Klose or Lonestar would sell just the handles.

thanks for getting back so quickly. My buddy suggested the Chipping hammers, he said that's how he usually does it. I was thinking the Stainless would give it a little more appeal. On the pipe size for the inside of the tank did you guys think the 8" diameter pipe was alright or a little bigger???

I have no experience using a heat diffuser tube like you have mentioned, but I would have to guess that it would be big enough to work. My concern would be that the holes you cut in it would get clogged up with gunk over time.

We actually cut like 1 inch high by 10 " long so so far it has been working out pretty good in my 250 gallon tank

Well the pipe we used in the 250 is square tubing , like industrial size stuff and my welding buddy doesnt have any more of it, thats why im a little hesitant on using the 8" pipe. I think my welding buddy has some 10" or 11" so i will see if we can use that instead.

Re: Building a New 325 gallon Trailer mounted Smoker

Well we haven't done much on the new cooker, due to it getting really busy at my buddies welding shop which is a great thing for him. I was out looking at my Trailer for the new cooker this evening and was wondering, is there any guidelines on how far away the firebox should be from Tires and the turn lights?? I'm sure its probably a common sense thing but was wondering if you need a couple of feet or what due to the radiant heat? Any Ideas/Suggestions would be a lot of help.
thanks Brad

I guess one down side of having a friend work on your pit, can be the down time inbetween them actually working on it. My friend is saving me alot of money which is great but i am getting really ansy about getting it done and wanting to use it. I also was thinking the other day that if i knew i was getting a tandem axle trailer i prob would have gone with a 500 gallon tank instead. Its the same length as the 325 gallon i have but is 7" larger in diameter. I am sure the 325 will be more then enough but you know sometimes bigger is better, LOL

I feel for ya on the waiting part... My 'large' pit has been at my welder/buddies place for a very long time! Guess I can't complain too much 'cause he's doing the work for free, but...

Well my welding buddy is back to working on my Grille. I have a question, do u prefer barrel hinges or the ones where they bend the rod and use it that way??? I hope this makes sense.
Thanks Brad
