brand new pit project...first timer!!!

Postby LSAtexan4x4 » Mon Feb 02, 2009 10:23 pm

about to start a build in a couple weeks...... i am buying a 24'' dia, 3/8 pipe 8 ft long......
thinking of an offset pit.....
is there a rule for how long the firebox should be in relation to the cooking chamber....
i was thinking a pit body of about 5' and firebox 18''....any good?
any help welcome and appreciated.....
and anything to look out for on a first time build....
thanks
David

I'm not a pit builder by any means, but starting with that size pipe, I would opt to go with a 6' cook chamber and use the 2' drop for my firebox...

Welcome to the forum and good luck with your build! When you get a chance swing by the Wanted Posters section and intro yerself.

Oh yeah! Be sure to take pics of the build process and post 'em for us to see!
