26.5 Weber Gold, redneck

Postby chilibbq » Mon Feb 02, 2009 11:53 am

Hey redneck, did you pick yours up? Got mine Sat, put it together and cooked on it Sunday. darn, it's big, lots of room. Also picked up 6 bags of the new Kingsford Competition, used it to grill the ribeye's up, it cooks hotter I believe, buried the temp gauge, pretty quick. Remote said 680, 1 load lit on top of 1/2 load unlite. Can't wait to try some 1/2 chicken's to see how they cook, with more room than the 22.

Congrats on the new toy... You wouldn't have any side by side photos of the 26.5" next to a 22.5" would ya?

sorry, James. don't have the right equipment for the pictures. maybe redneck can do it for you. Seems like I remember you have one on the way? picked mine up at Foreman's General store, you aren't that far from him, should go by and check him out. great place!!!! great bbq store and spices to boot. Throw back to the old General Store.

How much is that going for? I was able to get a 28" Whalen PartyPit kettle for $100 a couple of years ago, but I think it's discontinued now. Very good quality, probably even better than Weber, but the supports and grill grate were subpar. But these things can be fixed (that's half the fun).

See I never did think they were half the grill as a weber, but everybody is different. This is not cheap, it's going for around $300. It's a large gold with the Rancher lid rack. Weber temp gauge in the lid, heat protector on lid handle. I was very happy with it when I got it put together, took about 30 minutes drinking a Lone Star.
