Anybody who knows or owns an tejassmokers

Postby simon » Fri Jan 09, 2009 4:19 am

Hello to all,

just wan´t to buy me a real bbq smoker. But in Germany it´s very hard to find a new and originial Texas one.

There ist only one company, which have an European retailer. And that´s the tejassmokers.

But don´t know something about this company / smokers. Never heared this company. My favorite ist:

http://www.tejassmokers.com/products/2040cc.htm

Perhaps knows or uses anybody of you such a smoker ?
Are these smokers compareable with smokers from David Klose oder Gator Pits ?

As I said, thats the only chance for me to get an original texas smoker. But I want to have a good one... :D

Need your held and comments. Thanx !
Greetings

They are not a Klose or a Gator, which are custom built, but they are a well built smoker with good features. Lots of people use them. :D

Simon,
I moved your post here. You should get more responses this way.

The Pit in the link looks good to me, you could do a lot worse.

I looked at Tejas as a compare product for the pits I want to market in my business. They are better than a bolt together pit.

For my .02, being that a pit is hard to find in your location I would reconsider your decision on the 16" chamber. I would go with a bigger 20" (really a 24" would be choice). For very little money, the upgrade will be welcomed.... maybe not now, but when you become a pit master and EVERYONE wants you to smoke them something when you fire it up.

These guys may know of other pits in your neck of the woods. http://www.insideweb.ch/wbqa/
A couple of their members have sent pics of their pits to me for the gallery.

I have cooked on a tejas coker in the past, they are a good cooker for the money your spending, personally I would never put water in the belly of an offset smoker , they are not made for that...I cook on a custom Gator and have personally known Ritch the owner for years. I think you owe it to yourselfto atleast talk to him or Klose, to see what you could get for the same money...One thing I can be sure of gator pits will last you a lifetime with his quality.............So you really do get what you pay for...just my .02
R&O Custom Offset....It rocks!!!!

@txngent

You could do a lot worse, meaning it appears to be a decent cooker when compared to some of the cheapies on the market. :D

The models I've seen looked like a decent pit. If that is all that's available to ya and you have the finances, go for it.

That looks like a pretty good smoker judging from the photos. Should fit the bill for just about any backyard bbq'er and is definitly a better pit than the average homeowner would have here.
Best of luck with your decesion!
