Need effecient grill/smoker

Postby Dark Horse BBQ » Sat Jun 21, 2008 4:52 pm

Hi, had a Patio Classic for years that burnt out and I am lost without it. It is ceramic like a weber but oval, has a hatch open grill, nice ash catcher and the cover pivots back and does not require you to do something with it like the 22 1/2 webers. It has a cart and shelves on either side too. I have a new braunfels Hondo which I use when I want to smoke multiple items for partys and guests, but for family cooking just use the Patio Classic for grilling or smoking a chicken or 2, small brisket or a loin or two, or a couple of chucks. Weber 22 1/2's are sligtly too small and lacking in features, but I may have to get a gold if I can't find a better replacement for the Patio Classic. Suggestions for a good grill/smoker that is efficient and has features. That green egg is too pricey and too small.

If a ceramic (BGE, Primo et al) all too pricey, get a Weber Smokey Mountain. You can smoke, grill and steam on it. They list at $300 but you can get with free shipping on net for $200.

BTW, the ceramics may be on the expensive side but they last a life time. I've cooked a 13# packer or 3 whole racks of ribs or a 12# butt on my Primo. I wouldn't sell unless I got more than I paid for it so I could buy a new one.

I would check out one of the Weber Performers. Features are close to what you want, even has the slide away lid. Check here------>>>>
