Saw an ad for this contraption. Idea is to turn your Weber Kettle Grill into a smoker. It makes a trap to one side for the heat source, has a pan of water right over it.

I like the idea of it, but have my doubts. Anyone have experience with it?

You got a website for it that we could look at? I've seen something similar, if not the same thing... I'm usually skeptical about spending money on these kind of things when a cheap loaf pan from the $1 store will pretty much do the same thing... Just pile your coals on one side of the kettle, place the water pan next to them and cook indirect on the other side of the kettle grate...

Like I said, I'm cheap...

James, here's the web site. :D

http://www.smokenator.com/

I have never used one. So all I have to go on is what I have read on several different forums. :D
Most reviews I have read were so-so. Not great but not bad. Works but could be better seems to be most responses. :D As always there were a few " I hated it-it's worthless " posts. There were some that thought it was great too. :D

Thanks Jim! That is the one I was thinking about.

I've never used one, and it might work as advertised, but... Like I said, I'm cheap!

James, I bought these at HD for $8 on sale. I use one or both for indirect grilling on my kettle. They hold the charcoal to the side of the kettle great. These and a cheap alum. pan work for me. :D

I talked my Dad into buying one of those things since the electic ECB and vertical gasser didn't work out for him. He reports that it works good for smoked salmon but that is all he tried.

Seems to me I posted this gizmo a while back but I couldn't find the thread....must be getting old :P
