Quick metal question

Postby perryranch » Sat Mar 29, 2008 8:50 am

I need to know how thick of metal to make my firebox out of and what gauge of expanded mesh I need to use in the firebox? I am so ready to get the pit going.

I would say for the firebox 1/4" minimum, 3/8" or 1/2" would be even better for holding heat. :D Not sure of the ga. but a heavy 3/4" pattern for the expanded metal. :D JMHO

Thanks now I can call for prices. We have a huge amount of cans to take to Bryan Iron and Metal to sell and that money will be immedately turned around into pit metals. LOL

I double dittos OSD. Half inch be the ideal scenario for a firebox..3/8 next best..1/4 bare bones on a budget or critical on the weight etc.
