Got my propane tank for my smoker build!

I actually noticed that many of those used ones are PRICEY for what i'm looking for.

It can be hit or miss. I picked up my big miller wire machine for 600 bucks with a aluminum spool gun. I was seeing 140-180 machines in that range. Stick machines... id be alot less particular about. To a extent tramsformers are tramsformers

Mine was in the back of my truck. I was able to roll it on to a wheeled work table. Then i put temp legs and casters so i could both have my table back amd move it. It was entertaining to get it rolled off the table amd on those feet. The feet will likely be changed or modified before im done. Its ridiculously heavy. The casters are 250lb rated from harbor freight and were like 20 bucks for all 4. All 4 swivel

I feel your pain. I ended up using a small tractor and a winch to get this one on a trailer. I got a little western but it is now mounted!

I am in Montana...Our outdoor season is pretty short unless you like snow.

The propane tank build is coming along nicely! I look forward to seeing the end product!

Hey all,

It's been awhile since I posted, but I have a question for you. I have the propane tank in my garage on pallets, and got it all measured out to cut. I already washed it with water and soap and it's upside down so the design is to use the holes already in it as drain holes.

My question for you is, I bought a plug in 7.5 amp grinder, and bought a cutting wheel, and have started on one of the door cutouts. But man oh man does it take FOREVER to cut. Do you all have any recommendations on a cutting wheel to use? I bought a metal 4" Hilti one from Home Depot and have been using that. Maybe it just takes time and patience? What are your thoughts?

You need the thinnest ones you can get, the call them cutoff wheels. Don't know much about brands. I did all my cutting with a torch.

You bought a metal wheel? Maybe I misunderstood that.

Im getting to that point with mine. I picked up 1.5 flat stock and planned to use cut off discs from hazard fraught. They are about a buck a piece so its not terrible. Id love to use the plasma on it but i dont think id have a good strait quality cut. I might though try to rig something up as it would make much quicker work of it

Cut off wheels are probably the slowest method to cut steel but it does work when you are without a torch or plasma. The Dewalt brand probably are the best for endurance but I prefer Metabo for their thinner cut. Keep in mind you do not want super tight tolerances on your doors because when they cut free 9 times out of 10 they will spring in one direction or another.
If I had a plasma it would be my cut tool of choice simply because it is cheaper than my O/A torch to operate.
