Removing 250 gallon propane tank from a backyard for a smokwd

Postby sklater » Tue Apr 23, 2019 7:02 pm

So, I’m looking at building a custom smoker from an empty 250 gallon propane tank. I found one just 30 minutes from me for $75. I do have a problem though. It’s in someone’s backyard and I have no access with a trailer, so I need to bring it to the front then load it onto a trailer. I will be doing this by hand. What’s the best way for me to do this?

Thanks

Call an auto tow truck company.
They will do anything for money.
May cost you $200 or more but they will do it.

Get two pieces of 4" channel iron about 3' long and weld some 1/2" round bar on each end in the center for axles. Then go to harbor freight or Northern tool and buy four dolly tires. Get the tank up on the two make shift axles and strap it down then and roll it out of the yard.
Always remember slow and steady wins the race.

Or you could go low tech route and buy ten metal fence post tubes and roll the tank on them and push it along, replacing the ones exiting the rear back in front, and repeat....I've moved some pretty heavy equipment that way when there was no room to get a hoist or lift on it.
