Moving thermometer

Postby Mpd165 » Sat Jan 19, 2019 11:59 pm

I just bought this smoker and did my first cook and quickly realized the thermometer does not work. I started doing a bit of research and it seems it’s mounted way too high anyway. I’d like to buy a Tel Tru and mount it closer to the actual cooking grate.

My question is what do I do with the hole from the broken thermometer when I remove it? I’m not a welder or metal fabricator, so this is all new to me.

Go to the hardware store and get a plug and plug it. It should already be threaded.

If it isn't threaded then a short hex-bolt, 2 flat washers and a nut should take care of any possible problem. :salut:

I agree with OUP, bolt, 2 flat washers, & a nut. Problem solved.

If the old guage is still sealed up, you can just leave it there and mount the new ones where you want them.
