Cooking Wire

Postby MeatSmoker69 » Sat Oct 20, 2018 6:36 pm

Trying to figure out the best material to wrap a whole hog with. I've heard of using galvanized chicken wire but I've also heard of it not being safe. Anyone have any suggestions on what to use?

I don't think galvanized wire would be harmful since it really wouldn't get that hot (it gives off a nasty smoke if you weld on it).

And really you could probably use cotton twine/ rope just be sure to knot each wrap in case one did give.

I use aluminum electric fencing wire to secure a hog to a spit. I also stuff the inside with lemon grass or fruit depending on what I'm going for and stitch the cavity shut with the same wire. Hope that's helpful.
