Looks like the students did very well!

A question. What's up with the firebox door? That looks a bit dangerous to me... How is it secured in the up position? I'd be worried about it falling on me when I was adding wood during the cook. I'm sure you have it fool proofed tho...

Also, is that cat walk grating your using for the cook grate? I use some similar stuff in my fireboxes as a coal grate. As a cooking grate it should last forever!

It has a chain that hook and hold it up.

That's cool... didn't want anybody to get branded by a hot, and what appears to be a heavy duty door.

Think the "my my" phrase is being tossed around too much. Now did you build it or did the kids build it? Joint project perhaps? Let us move ourselves over to "our" if the latter be true. The "my my" stuff sounds like a PA yankee. If a kid burnt a rod on it it's "ours". Humility is a great habit to cultivate. Basic stuff from psychology 101. Will do wonders for your likeability factor.

Dang sorry to hear about that drowning deal. Had two cousins who drowned at the same time once upon a time. Will keep that young man in my prayers.
