Building a new Pit

Postby Theroadwarrior » Thu Jul 26, 2018 9:57 am

I am getting ready to build a smoker out of a 500 gallon propane tank/trailer
I did the feldons website calculator and I think i have my measurements correct

Firebox is 34x34x34 square shape

the stack is 8" round at 40" tall.

I am going to do two rows of grates.

Just a traditional offset with tuning plates.

What is the general rule of thumb for the firebox opening? The calculator says 28.29" in a half moon shape. What would be the best measurements for this?

How should the firebox be mounted in relation to the grates? like how far below the grates?

Thanks-James
