Hi guys
Newbie here so forgive me if it's in the wrong forum. Looking to convert an old 40 gallon whiskey barrel into a smoker for haddock and mackerel.
Just wondering if any of you have had experience doing similar? I'm from the UK and I'm looking to set up a little street food stall doing smoked fish, so would only be smoking fish for ~30minsish.
Any help would be appreciated

Welcome to the forum Smokyfish. The down side to whiskey or wine barrels is that you have to keep them hydrated or they leak like a sieve. Most of the folks I know have set them aside for UDS's which require little to no maintenance.

Cheers guys much appreciated. Saw the oil drum conversions, but think the whiskey barrel would be more suited to the type of markets I'll be doing. Thanks again and happy smoking

Interesting. Have a big rum barrel in my shop that is for a conversion project this fall, once I get all the other priorities for this year outta the way and the weather turns cool.
