Smoke stack question

Postby chillingrillin » Tue Oct 10, 2017 9:56 am

Hey guys. New to the forum and fairly new to bbq. I'm planning on building a DF horizontal offset onto a trailer for easy maneuvrabilty. I'm thinking around 24" diameter at 48" long with a 24"x18" firebox. The smoke stack I punched into the calculator has it at 4" D x about 32.5" tall.

I have a question about this. If I were to go to a 5" D but keep the same length, would this have any negative effects on performance? Or would the added airflow benefit me? If I punch in a 5" smoke stack I think I got between 20-21"

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated for a novice.

Thanks in advance fellers

I would increase the 5" to 24" tall not 32.5".
