Fire box half moon opening

First build,im looking for advice on how to layout half moon on fire box before cutting please help,here are my calcs.

Your half moon would be 20" wide x 10" tall. I would increase this to 21" wide x 10.5" tall to add a 1.5" to 2" grease bridge. Make your opening at the top of your firebox this will allow for either the tuning plates or reverse plate to be a continuation of the opening. What is a reverse plate KAM??
