Offset Question?

Postby jwillie13 » Sun Aug 20, 2017 9:17 am

I need a little help. I have a nice heavy gauge surge tank from a well system. Has anyone considered placing the firebox behind the cook chamber instead of on either end? I'm thinking I could have the box in the bacl along the long side of the cook chamber, with a baffle plate to divert smoke/heat in two directions toward either end. With chimney's on each end. Possibly being able to adjust which end gets more heat and/or smoke. Any thoughts would be appreciated

I have seen several builds like this but mostly have a plate extending the length of the chamber and covering about 1/2 to 2/3's the depth. The exhausts are left right and to the rear creating somewhat of a reverse flow.
Always remember slow and steady wins the race.
