I got my trailer to rebuild for my bbq pit trailer. Lots to do, but i will be adding in heavy duty cross beams to weld mounts to for the pit.

Question is whats the best way to mount a pit to a trailer? Best brackets to make? Size? Thickness?

Pit part im mounting to the trailer is 8 foot long x 42 inch diameter... alittle thicker than quarter inch. Its heavy...

First thing that comes to mind is cutting out brackets shaped kind of like this out of like half inch sheet of metal. Doing 3 brackets like this welded to the heavy cross beams....??? That way the brackets cradle the pipe/pit body... the pipe sits in the saddles...

Pics keep turning on me when posted**

I'm a total Novice but you have taken "working height" into your fabrication design I hope :?:

That's an awfully big trailer for that small pit isn't it?

You do not really need that much support. I normally use angle iron to make the legs. My large cooker has 3" x 3" x 1/4" legs.
