smoker build

Postby markyoung » Wed Feb 22, 2017 3:48 pm

hello all
I'm building a smoker" I have a 30" pipe. id is 29" and 84" long. I built a fire box 28"x26"x26" I'm using the bbq calculator not sure if I'm using it correct
but I'm looking at cutting a half moon in the cooking chamber to firebox 20"x10" and a vent in the firebox door 5"x12" does this seem to be correct please
help and if there is a better way please give advice. also I would like to know if I should go with tuning plates are reverse flow I was told tuning plates help
with setting even cooking temp. all help is great full. if I were to build the reverse flow what should the opening size at the end of the plate to cylinder be I don't see how to calculate that with the bbq calculator.
Thanks
