In the final stages of my build. My next step is making my heat deflector and placing my exhaust. Was also thinking of adding a fresh air intake with a 4" fan booster. I'm heating with a smoke daddy pellet hopper unit. The inside shell is 49" x 60" x 28"
It's going to be insulated with roxul insulation

It's get there. What do you guys suggest for exhaust placement? It's going under a shed that's exclosed. I need to vent it through the roof. Dennis at smoke daddy said 6" exhaust and add a 6" intake. I was thinkin 4" intake with a duct fan booster with a speed control on it and a regular vent using a floor register for control. Should I place the exhaust halfway down in the middle or at the top in the middle. I'm also thinking of a full length heat diffuser of some type to help spread heat and smoke
I have a back up amazin 6X8 for cold spoke or extra smoke when needed
The left side will have racks and the right will have hanging racks

Going to cut the shelves and heat diffuser tonight at my buddies with the a cad plasma.
Here's my idea for heat diffuser
I'm also going to drop the exhaust 6-12" from the top. Still haven't decided if it'll be 4 or 6"

Finally got some time to work on the smoker between cutting deer and work been busy the last few weeks.
Should I wire brush all the whole inside especially where i used Flux core or just a quick wash with degreaser and a good rinse good enough before I season it?
I decided on a 5" exhaust set down about 12" from the top. Also adding two 5" fresh air intakes. I have the deflector set with a 1.5" gap that I can make larger if needed it's just takes so that's a quick fix. I'm hoping to have it fired by Sunday

so I'm in the process of changing things up a bit. I love the pellet daddy but having some trouble keeping it low enough for when I smoke sticks and bologna. I am looking at changing this unit over to electric unless someone else can toss some good ideas my way. I have access to 220. I have a few thoughts running around in my head but I would like to get the project under way soon since deer season (we butcher for some friends and make a ton of sticks and bologna) id love to be about to keep it around 170-180. I also have an amazn tray I can use for smoke, also thought of using the small coil from a MES unit and using dust or chunks. thanks in advance for the help
oh yea ill be using the pellet unit on a smaller fridge build once I get this one fired up and ready again.

Heres my ideas so far
from what i see/read this is 3500 watts at 240/ volts
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Sears-Ken...&wl13=&veh=semusing this controller
http://www.auberins.com/index.php?main_ ... cts_id=464SSR
http://www.auberins.com/index.php?ma...&products_id=9Heat Sink
http://www.auberins.com/index.php?ma...roducts_id=244 Fan
http://www.auberins.com/index.php?ma...roducts_id=401i found this one thats 20 cfm. how would i wire it into the PID to come on when the element? also say for hot smokes would i be able to disengage the element and have it just run the fan for charcoal basket?
along with hitemp wire and a box to install it all in. would i need a switch or does the PID control that?
i am wanting to add a small cfm fan (or adjustable using this) controlling some type of fan... i have been looking and cant seem to find one that will fit the purpose any ideas? i will have it moving air over the element at the base of the unit. i was going to set it up to draw off the one exhaust i have now to circulate the air (good idea, not good idea??)
the setup i have picked out so far is that good for what i want to do?? we are going to drop a 50A sub off the main panel for the shed. i know how to wire stuff and can read a diagram but im not good when it comes to figuring out the right amperage and wattage stuff
