stainless freezer latch question???

Just purchased a stainless chrome freezer latch on eBay. I paid 28.99 plus shipping. I purchased it for a insulated fire box door. After installing it and slam latching it a few times it busted where the bolt holes are on the latch part. I guess I was under the impression that this thing was solid stainless but after it broke I suspect it is partially built from a strong type of plastic. Wasn't what I was expecting but I guess that's what you get for 28.99. Has anyone had this problem and is there a handle that is solid stainless and if so do you have a link to it? Thanks in advance!
