chicken cooker question

Postby bullypitbbq » Sat Jan 23, 2016 9:25 am

Was curious what a chicken cooker Intel's, exactly what is it that makes it a chicken cooker and not just a grill?Does it have some kind of damper and or water pan that keeps the direct heat off of it? I am wanting to build one so just needing some advice from someone who has experience with these chicken cookers. Thanks in advance!

They are just grills. True some of the cooker build company's have done some mods like deeper ash pans and altered the exhaust then labeled then chicken cookers because they are targeting competition teams.
More teams cook their chickens on UDS's and Old Smokey's than any other I know. I personally do not have 1500.00 or so to spend on a "Chicken cooker".
Always remember slow and steady wins the race.

The chicken cookers I've seen (and the one I'm about to build) are basically just a charcoal grill (not a stick burner) with an option to have a water pan. Some also have a heat deflector plate too.
