Hey all,

I have a custom smokehouse that I built earlier this year and wanted to add some type of extension to it.

Dont judge here but i created a propane heat controlled foundation to keep wood smoldering/heat consistent.

The issue im having is that its too small to add big items, or a lot of meat at once. Dimensions approximately 3X3X4ft... Im somewhat handy so any ideas are welcomed! Home depot is my best friend these days so thats where ill grab most of the materials as well.

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum. On building bigger, gonna be lot of work any way you go. Not knowing how much room you need. Think about going up and wide with a new slant roof. Might just be eaiser to build new. CF :D

Welcome to the forum EmbersFate. I agree with ChileFarmer trying to extend or widen the existing house may prove labor intensive. Knowing what you know now and how much room you need I would look into selling this smokehouse and building a new one to replace it.

Thanks for the advice!

I agree about everything you both said, specifically how labor intensive this project could be. Maybe its just me but I could never sell this smokehouse because of the sentimental value it holds.

That said, thinking about going up and wide (thanks ChiliFarmer) on the left hand side of my existing smokehouse. Then ill bored a vent hole to connect each other with 3-4 inch pipe, using some type of vent regulator in between. Ill then regulate the current vent pipe as well... This way I can either use both, or one smokehouse down the road.

If im going the wrong direction with this please let me know...

Really appreciate it!
