Picking up a old Smoker today needing some TLC
Well the project is going to be underway. I old smoker is being given to me to do something with and I'm looking forward to the challenge. Wife says it looks like a dumpster so I think we are going to call it "The Dumpster"

It looks like a dumpster because...I think it was a dumpster! Those look like old fork guide welds on the side ?

No it was shopped made for my boss in the late 70's. It's top half is double walled and insulated and it looks like the baffle plate is the only thing rusted enough it will need to be replaced other than that seems solid. I think I'm going to cut about a foot off the top to shorten it a little bit and divided the door into two doors.

That's a Major Award! Curious, is it galvanized on the outside? And what's that round thing on the arm on the right, some kinda coutnerweight? I bet it took mucho grunting by somebody's winch to get it on the trailer.

Ok, I see it now in the other pictures, it is a counterweight like a railroad crossing arm. That thing could sure put a knot on somebody's head...

really curious to know how it cooks and how the inside is set up as well (amount of shelves and their placement, how deep the chimney goes in, and yea is it galvanized?). interesting design

Looks like a nice set up. I'd build a trailer for it so it would be nice and low and portable.
