How did you bend the flat bar to weld to the curved doors? Probably a rookie question but I am about to start working on my very first smoker, so I pretty much am a rookie.

It really isn't that difficult, I used 14g 2" strips, measured and welded them into the rectangle. I then tack welded them to the top of the door and used clamps to slowly work my way down.

Thanks so much, that's smart. for some reason I was thinking thicker material but I guess 14g is all you need!! Thanks again.

Finally finished the pit this weekend, laying down base/clear on a trailer and painting the pit took nearly all day Saturday and Sunday. Sure was worth it in the end! As you can see, the pit paint was still a bit soft when I hoisted it up onto the trailer, I'll have to wait for it to harden then sand and touch up.
For those interested, the paint color is Ford's Sonic Blue, being a blue oval guy it was an obvious choice!
