oh 3-5 degrees difference is nothing.

yeh, I was being sarcasticle

My cheapy COS runs 20 degrees or so on windy days.....on a hot calm day I can get it within 5 degrees with a water pan on the plate next to the firebox....

you fill that thing up with corn still in the husk...that baby gets dead even

started painting it today, as you can see i left a place to install my gauges, and the stack is left bare to get the damper on it then it'll be painted.

should have it all finished up tomorrow and have the final coat of paint on the whole thing by tomorrow afternoon.

paint is rustoleum satin black and i used a roller to apply it. went on very smooth and even.

Here is the gauges i bought for it, they'll be installed tomorrow.

How are the doors, as far as the weight and where's a good place to pick up the insulation? I'm thinking about building a pit with insulated firebox on one on my next builds. Thanks-

Doors are fine. I can open them one handed so.

Thanks for the info guys!...I'm probably going a little crazy, I'm finishing these 2 trailers with 20" x 48" smoking chambers and then a trailer with a 24" x 72", then 30" with an insulated fire box. we build smoker trailers when we have extra time, which lately isn't very often. But everything we've built has sold (with exception to one that was stolen) if we have them we sell them. So it's great to be on here seeing guys really passionate about BBQ and building rigs.

Pit is all done and painted. As you can tell it was windy all night and got dirt all over it so it already needs a bath.
