I don't see why people still bother soaking their smoking chunks and chips.
Log burners don't wet their wood,do they?
The times I tried it the water turned brown. Seems to me that I might be losing something in there--just like what happens when you par-boil ribs! (which is purentee sacrilege!)
Makes more sense and less work to wrap the chunks with foil to prevent flare-ups. You get free charcoal that way!
