Do the same airflow calculations apply to a reverse flow smoker like they do to a regular offset? Seems like the smoke stack would need to be larger to pull the draft through the chamber.

i used the same calculations and have no problems. Your cook chamber space is actually smaller (not much) due to the reverse plate.
